_첫 링크의 기자는; '하나의 아시아'에 북한을 제외한 채 '한중 해저터널'을 먼저 상상한다. 허나 한국전쟁 이전에는 서울에서 파리까지 기차 여행이 가능했다는 것은 상상하지 못한다. '세계시민'을 꿈꾼다는 건, 단순히 런던과 홍콩으로 출장을 오간다는 의미는 아니다. 그것은 명준의 고뇌처럼, '어느 경계까지 자기 자신을 밀고나갈 것인가', 라는 문제이다. (또는, 거창하지만, '어디에서 진정한 문학이 가능한 것인가') 그리고 이 문제에 있어 지리적인 한계와 세계 정세 따위는 사실 큰 문제가 아닌지도 모른다. 서울에서 뉴욕 사이의 거리가 신의주에서 단동 사이의 거리보다 가까운 것이다.
영화 <Factotum>의 마지막 대사, "If you're going to try, go all the way. Otherwise don't even start. This could mean losing girlfriends, wives, relatives, jobs. And maybe your mind.
